How Does A Vape Pen Battery Work?

How Does A Vape Pen Battery Work? - iKrusher

A vape pen battery might seem like a highly technical piece of equipment. After all, in the short time that we used oils and extracts to perform our daily rituals, the technological improvement that has come to define our industry has leaped industry standards to create a highly useful and compact product.

What Is A Vape Pen Battery?

A vape pen battery is one of the fastest-growing industry tools. While its beginnings have improved major components, the overall draft has been relatively unchanged.

Vape pen batteries consist of a lithium-ion battery, a computer chip to read temperature and airflow, a tank, and (more recently) a ceramic coil.

Vape Pen Battery: Early Industry Issues

While these devices have become widely popular among today's users, they hit a rough patch early on, but that issue was critical in shaping the vape pen industry which would become an industry staple and standard for years to come.

When they first hit the shelves at various smoke shops across America, they were small, the components were lower-quality at best, and the overall implication was that you can throw them away once you were done. Single-use disposable vaporizers were the start of the entire industry.

The cotton wick couldn't handle the thicker viscosities of oil. Often, it would burn out due to the amount of power it would take to adequately vaporize the product. This is where the first inclination of innovation hit the market.

Dabbing was widely popular at this point. The concept was a major industry shift from traditional dry herbs. With the industry finding that ceramic, titanium, and glass bangers retained the heat from their blow torches, they essentially discovered the three major components that would easily replace the standard low-quality cotton.

While glass and titanium were great at handling high levels of heat while not succumbing to breaking, ceramic held just as high of a standard. The benefit of ceramic coils was their absorption of flavor. While titanium was great for high-heat dabbing, it often left a burnt taste in one's mouth. Glass was only useful at lower temperatures. Ceramic coils provided the best flavor for the most optimal heat temperatures.

Ceramic Coil Technology Improves Vape Battery Performance

While the coil itself could handle hotter and higher temperatures for longer periods of time, the battery life would often be abysmal. Some vaporizer batteries could only handle 180 watts on a single charge. The technology that got these devices on the shelves clearly understood that alongside the coil material, battery performance needed to be increased.

The next point to focus on was the battery itself. After a few months of feedback, the industry listened and increased the battery size while not compensating for the discrete style in the process.  Sure, at the start the batteries needed to be larger, but over time the technological breakthrough in battery technology would account for smaller, more compact sizes that would allow for optimal recharging capabilities.

The Industry Shifts

While all of these technological innovations were happening with 510 thread vape pens and 510 thread cartridges, the disposable vaporizer market was having a hard time trying to provide the best experience for users to enjoy their product without having to first purchase a separate device. Thus disposable vaporizers hit the scene. They also had a hard start as the technological innovations set forth by 510 thread devices were already the industry standard.

While that specific device held the market in an iron grip, it was only a matter of time before all-in-one vape pens took the technology put forth by their predecessors and improved upon its technological reliability.

As of right now, the disposable vape pen battery is quickly encircling the industry standards of the once-giant vape pen industry.

How Does It Work?

The standard vape pen was two separate components. The first is the 510 thread cartridge, the second is the 510 thread battery. The cartridge is where most of the technological improvements have been made. This includes a ceramic heating coil, a glass tank, and an atomizer.

The vape battery consists of internal battery (with or without) charging capabilities. As most batteries now have charging ports, the industry standard is more and more relying on those features for maintained sales. Users can activate these batteries in two ways, one is by clicking a button, and the other is by simply drawing on the cartridge to activate the heating element.

The heating elements then touch that atomizer inside the vape cartridge and heat up the ceramic coil. The ceramic coil then heats up the surrounding concentrate oil to create vapor. When inhaling the end result is a lung full of quality vapor.
